ECONOMIC IMPACT OF PETROCHEMICAL COMPLEX COMPANIES - 2014

The presence of the Petrochemical Complex in Bahía Blanca has a proven influence on the local and regional economy. There is a direct economic impact resulting from the payment of salaries to Complex employees and the payment of charges to the local municipality. According to the estimates for 2015, the companies making up the sector contributed approximately 1.174 million to these items. Apart from the above-mentioned direct impact, the petrochemical activity in Bahía Blanca also injects resources to the regional economy through payments made to contractor companies and vendors supplying services and selling the necessary goods for Complex production. Residents of the region and the municipal public sector receive these funds and subsequently spend said incomes, boosting thus the overall economic activity.
